Star DJ Erick Morillo died

The star DJ Erick Morillo, who became world famous with the song “I Like To Move It”, is dead. Morillo was found dead in a Miami Beach estate on Tuesday at the age of 49 years, a police spokesman of the German Press Agency said on Wednesday, confirming corresponding US media reports.

After an emergency call, the emergency services had driven to the property. Morillo’s death is now being investigated. At first glance, there were no signs of any outside influence.

Morillo was one of the best DJs he had ever seen, his colleague David Guetta wrote on Twitter. “You have inspired me so much,” he continued. “Thanks for opening the doors for so many of us. I will miss the long nights I spent with you at the DJ desk 15 years ago.”

Originally from Colombia, Morillo had released songs under many different pseudonyms as a producer and worked as a DJ all over the world. His greatest success came in 1994, when he released the song “I Like To Move It” together with rapper Mark Quashie as the duo Reel 2 Real, which became a worldwide success.

In August Morillo was arrested for sexual assault according to US media reports. A court hearing in the matter was scheduled for Friday. Murillo rejected the accusations.
